At last count, it seems that more than 28,000 Sanford residents agree with Ferrell. It's located in North Carolina's geographic center, not far from the Research Triangle to the north and the lush greens of the golf courses of Pinehurst and Southern Pines just to the south. Those who can't decide whether to live in the mountains or by the beach might want to choose this convenient spot. The Atlantic is just two hours away by car and the Blue Ridge Mountains are a three-hour drive to the West.
